Hello! My name is Andrew Gage and I hope to be your advocate, voice and friend on the Greater Victoria School Board from 2026-2030.
My Family and School Involvement
In 2008, when my wife and I were expecting our son, we decided there was nowhere we would rather raise our children than the beautiful township of Esquimalt. Over the past 18 years, we have lived and grown our family in this wonderful place. Our children have attended many local schools, including Macaulay, Shoreline, Rockheights, and Esquimalt. I, in turn, have gained an understanding for each school's atmosphere and dynamics. Our daughter graduated from Esquimalt in 2024, and our son will graduate in 2027.
Throughout years of observing my childrens' education, I have noticed that at times it has been top notch. However, at others, we have struggled to get the school system to address the particular needs of our unique children. Both experiences have instilled in me a belief that good teachers and the support of the school system can make all the difference for a child. As School Board Trustee, I hope to work towards a vision where all children can be supported and uplifted within our schools.
My Background
In 1990 I graduated from Esquimalt Secondary School. I went on to graduate from the University of Victoria as a lawyer, and to work in non-profit environmental law for over two decades. My day job finds me fighting for people across the province, using my advocacy experience and the law to help keep themselves, their communities, and the places they live and love, safe.
