As an Esquimalt resident since 2008, a graduate of Esquimalt High and a parent of children in Esquimalt schools, I will advocate for your families on the Greater Victoria School Board. My priorities include:
Esquimalt catchment schools need more TLC, maintenance and upgrades, including for earthquake safety.
Press the Province to deliver on promised funding for earthquake upgrades.
Pursue all options for funding to address asbestos and lead and deferred school maintenance.
Strive for adequate custodial staff to maintain and fix schools.
A student should have the same opportunities no matter where they go to school in the district. Let's see what we can do to get resources where they're needed.
Reform SD61 donations policy to avoid reinforcing inequities between schools;
Complete the promised equity scan
Address inequality between school neighbourhoods in funding decisions.
As Esquimalt’s Trustee, I will build strong relationships with families and work with the community to get results for our kids.
Meet regularly with parents, teachers and PACs;
Keep parents informed about decisions being made by the province, the School Board and schools that affect their kids;
Work with parents and the community to press the Province to adequately fund and support our schools.
Support for struggling or vulnerable students
Maintain and expand programs to build tolerance in the school community and include BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and other at risk students.
Support music, sports, drama and other programs to connect with a diverse student population.
Ensure that there are Educational Assistants, Councillors and other support workers
